The CISA exam consists of five domains or sections, which include Process of Auditing Information Systems (21%), Governance and Management of IT (16%), Information Systems Acquisition, Development and Implementation (18%), Information Systems Operations, Maintenance and Service Management (20%), and Protection of Information Assets (25%).
Pre-requisites
To be eligible for the CISA certification, a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in information systems auditing, control, or security as outlined in the CISA job practice areas is required. However, if you have 3 years of experience, you can substitute this with a completed master’s degree in information security or information technology.
To apply for the CISA certification, you must submit a completed application within five years from the date you initially passed the CISA examination, and your work experience must be verified by your employer.
Eligibility
There are no specific educational requirements to be eligible for the CISA exam. However, candidates must meet the required work experience to obtain the CISA certification. The CISA course is suitable for individuals working in various roles such as auditors, IT compliance managers, chief compliance officers, privacy officers, and security officers. One year of non-IS auditing experience or one year of information systems experience can be substituted for one year of required experience.
